Free Thurs: India in California

Posted by Carren Jao Pineda |

I have a growing fascination with India. All the photos I have seen of it have been amazing. Colorful garb, soaring and intricately decorated buildings, plus the obviously rich well of culture its people draw on.

Tomorrow night, scholar Edward L. Rothfarb puts the mythology of India within the context of California's visual culture at the Santa Monica Museum of Art. Put up in relation to the ongoing exhibition on California artist Beatrice Wood, the event promises to draw some interesting connections between a distant and exotic land and the everyday California landscape we all live in.
