Free this weekend: GOOD stuff in LA

Posted by Carren Jao Pineda |

Okay, I'm nursing a cold and cough, but for those not under the weather like me, you all should head down to Atwater Village for a weekend of festivities in celebration of GOOD's LA issue.

This Friday, GOOD gathered eight urban design problems ranging from homelessness to obesity and pit the minds of eight designers to solve it. See a real-life rendering of the design ideas and hear the creators talk about their solutions in the Q&A and cocktail hour.

Saturday, a pop-up community center well... pops up. Twenty-four vendors from Artisinal LA and Unique LA are on hand to showcase their wares. Later on, some sharing is in order. Share, swap, exchange or donate your goods, services and homemade treats alongside some cool non-profits. The list of events goes on. I'm sure you can find something that strikes your fancy whether you're taking your family or just hanging by yourself.

Finally, on Sunday, get your dog-eared copies of Reyner Banham's Los Angeles: The Architecture of Four Ecologies out. The first ever GOOD Book Club is under way.
