Free tom: Venice Art Crawl

Posted by Carren Jao Pineda |

Venice Art Crawl celebrates December by playing with the concept of light.

Venice Art Crawl promises "over 2,000 feet of projections from the Venice rooftops" and "architects specializing in 3-D visualizing and conceptual video artists playing with lights and shadows to develop a spectacular show, creating the illusion of moving walls, snaking pillars and colorful objects jumping out of the two-dimensional projections."

Now, doesn't that sound like something that will wreak havoc with your senses? (In a good way, of course.)

Video artists include: Felix Turner, Jesse Nikette and Brian B. Decker. One of my favorites from Decker & Co. is the video below. By project doors on empty facades, they invite viewers to contemplate on what might be happening behind opaque walls and anonymous spaces.

December 16, 6-10 pm
Venice Blvd. to Rose Ave.
