Free this Thurs: Shepard Fairey exhibition

Posted by Carren Jao Pineda |

While legal troubles are still ailing Shepard Fairey, it hasn't stopped him from attending to other business--like the artist's inaugural exhibition at his Echo Park gallery.

Co-owned by Shepard and wife Amanda Fairey, Subliminal Projects will showcase "Printed Matters," a collection of Shepard's printed works. Pieces on view include works on wood, metal, album covers and fine art collage papers.

“I’m a product of the era of mass production and the mass culture it has created. I can’t imagine my art practice without the influence of, and the use of, printing," said Fairey in a released statement. True enough, would we have known of this grassroots artist had it not been for one now-controversial print poster?
