Free this Sat: Santa Monica's Glow

Posted by Carren Jao Pineda |

Public art at its most public. That's what Santa Monica's Glow festival aims to be. Inspired by "white night" or "nuit blanche" events in such cities as Paris, Toronto and Rome, Glow is a free dusk-to-dawn event that features interactive art from local and international artists.

According to the site, Glow's specific aim is to "invite active audience engagement and exploration that constantly surprise." Who doesn't want that, right? No more surly guards telling you to back off from the artwork.

This year's Glow includes 20 original artworks commissioned specifically for Santa Monica. Angeleno art lovers will also see some familiar participating organizations like Freewaves, 18th Street Art Center and Machine Project along with the mix.
